Working dairy farm offering year round farm tours for groups, family and corporate days. Taking a guided tour at Farmer Barnes Dairy will give visitors a real life experience they’ll enjoy and a direct insight how we produce milk from a modern dairy farm today.
New for 2023 – Stilton special farm tours
Experience a Tractor & Trailer Ride across the fields, feed milk to baby calves and watching the cows in the new milking parlour then relax with a fresh cuppa made with our milk, enjoy home baked cakes and Stilton cheese tasting.
A range of yummy Stilton Cheese will be available to buy from the farm too as ALL our milk (2.2 million litres/year) is sold to Long Clawson Dairies where they make this famous local cheese, so don’t forget your wallets!
GROUP TOURS (suitable for any age group) available any weekday 2.30-4.30pm with tea & cakes included for organised groups like WI’s, U3A, Probus, TWG, Gardening Clubs and corporate teams. These must be pre arranged bookings and require a minimum of 20 and max of 40 people per session. Tickets £20 pp includes tractor & trailer ride, afternoon tea & cakes (any dietary requirements must be pre arranged at time of booking please) and a fully guided tour of the farm. Stilton Cheese tasting on a try before you buy as we sell it from the farm. After all it’s made with our lovely Ayrshire milk!
Farmer Barnes will guide the two hour tour and will show you behind the scenes of a modern working dairy farm and give you the opportunity to ask any questions direct to the farmers who look after the herd 365 days/year and who produce creamy milk for Stilton Cheese production. Now the farm is run by Harry Barnes, the 4th generation farmer and meet other members of the Barnes family during your visit. Tractor & Trailer Ride, feeding milk to calves and watching the cows being milked through the milking parlour are all part of the experience.
Prices on application. Stilton Cheese will be available to buy direct from the farm.

What to Expect
You are visiting a brand new dairy farm (only built in 2018) which has clean outdoor areas and facilities which means you only need to wear sensible footwear and bring clothing suitable for the weather conditions forecast on the day of your visit. There are open sided buildings and areas where we can shelter from the weather if necessary. There is a cover on the trailer so we can still do the Trailer Ride whatever the weather. We have two public toilets and hand washing facilities available throughout your visit. Plenty of space for car parking and turning. Coaches welcome. At the end of the tour you will be offered refreshments in our new Cow Classroom, which has viewing windows on to the milking parlour, so while you’re enjoying a sit down and a drink, you can also watch the cows in the milking parlour. We are accessible for wheelchair users. There is a flight of stairs to access the viewing gallery platform above the milking parlour and there is a step & handrail to access the trailer ride. Alternatively, there are seats in the Cow Classroom to see the milking through the viewing windows on the ground floor.
Visiting a UK dairy farm allows you to see at first hand the daily operation of safe milk production and the care dairy farmers give to their land and animals. Touring our dairy farm as a school class, family or tour group is both fun and educational way to see dairy cows close up and identify with farmers who produce the wholesome dairy products your family enjoys everyday.
